Membranes in any membrane separation system are the heart of the plant and the process. The performance of an RO \/ UF membrane can be impaired by impurities that foul the membrane suface during operation. These foulants\/impurities can foul the membrane and cause loss in production of clean water and hence reduce overall plant efficiency.<\/p>\n
Fouling is attributed to (1) Scaling due to mineral deposits, (2) Fouling of suspended solids (3) microbial fouling or development of biofilm due to growth of bacteria in the system.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
